The Naval Directorate of Islamic Affairs Training School (NDIATS) was established in 2016. The aim of the establishment is to prepare and provide adequate initial and on the job training for the Imam Assistants, so as to carryout various functions within the department and to also equip them with the basic required rudiments to man NN mosques and facilities.
The training comprises of 2 phrases: During the academics phase, the UTRS are instructed in English Language, French Language, Computer, Mathematics, among others. On completion, the UTRS return for professional phase, during which the UTRS are instructed in the recitation of the Qur'an, Arabic grammar, Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh), Prophetic traditions (Hadith), duties of Imam Asst, Moral lessons (Tahzib), Islamic Monotheism (Tauheed), Sharing of Inheritance (Mirath) Islamic burial rites (Janaza) among others.
