About

The Communication and Information Technology School (CITS) formerly known as Communication School, was established in 1961, to train the Nigerian Navy communication specialists, after which these specialists usually go for foreign courses to further enhance their skills. In Apr 82, the School was subsequently given the full responsibility for training officers and ratings of the Nigerian Navy Communication Department. Since then, the School has reasonably lived up to its functions and responsibilities. So far, a total of about 553 officers and 3366 ratings of the CIT Branch have been trained by the School since inception.

Courses

The Curricula of CITS was designed by Messrs Dornier to cater for all aspects of communication. There are currently 7 courses regularly conducted by the CITS namely:

The Course is aimed at training student officers to be specialists in communication innovations and practices.

The STC spans 12 months, aimed at enlightening student officers to numerous subjects in CIT School.

The SDPCT course is being conducted at NNC Onne.

The IRC, designed for ratings that excelled during the RTCI Course and were thus recommended for instructional duties, however, the IRC are not regularly conducted except on a need basis as determined by the service.

The RTCI Course, designed for ratings that have successfully completed RTC II Course.

This course is designed for ratings that have successfully completed the RTC III Course.

This Course, designed for ratings that have just passed out from the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) Onne.
